On Sunday, the Secretary General of the CSTO Stanislav Zas spoke by phone with the commander of the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the CSTO in the Republic of Kazakhstan, Colonel-General Andrey Serdyukov. This was reported in the press service of the Organization.
"The course of the deployment of the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the CSTO on the territory of Kazakhstan, which were sent there in accordance with the decision of the Collective Security Council adopted on January 6, 2022 in order to normalize the situation in the Republic of Kazakhstan, was discussed," the press service informed. It was noted that the peacekeeping units are already fulfilling their tasks. The CSTO military has secured important state, military and strategic facilities.
Earlier, at a joint briefing in Alma-Ata, Serdyukov said that the CSTO peacekeepers had completed their deployment in Kazakhstan and would remain there until the situation in the country was fully stabilized. The commander also said that Russian citizens who are on vacation in Alma-Ata or with relatives and who have expressed a desire to return home to Russia have been sent by planes of our military transport aviation.
