In accordance with the decision of the CSTO Collective Security Council, the peacekeeping forces have completed deployment on the territory of Kazakhstan. This was stated on Sunday at a joint briefing in Alma-Ata by the commander of the collective peacekeeping forces of the CSTO in Kazakhstan, Colonel-General Andrey Serdyukov.
According to him, now the peacekeeping units are engaged in the protection of important military, state and socially significant facilities in the city of Alma-Ata and the surrounding areas. Serdyukov also thanked his Kazakh colleagues for the prompt resolution of issues related to the deployment and provision of CSTO military contingents with everything necessary.
He also said that Russian citizens who are on vacation or with relatives in Alma-Ata have been sent by planes of our military transport aviation. We are talking about those people who have expressed a desire to travel to the territory of the Russian Federation.
"The implementation of tasks by the units of the Collective Peacekeeping Forces will continue until the situation in the country is fully stabilized," the commander said.
And the Deputy Minister of Defense of Kazakhstan, Lieutenant General Sultan Gamaletdinov, said that the situation on the territory of the republic is stabilizing and is under the control of the authorities. "I want to thank the command and personnel of the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the CSTO for the fraternal assistance provided to the Kazakh people," the deputy minister said.
According to him, counter-terrorism operations are currently underway in Kazakhstan. It will continue until the complete destruction of terrorists and the restoration of constitutional order in the republic.
