The Americans have decided on optics for a new generation of small arms. Yesterday, January 8, the US Army press service announced the signing of a contract with Vortex Optics for the supply of XM157 "smart" sights for advanced rifles and machine guns.
As part of the NGSW-FC program, Vortex Optics will supply up to 250,000 XM157 sights over ten years. The potential value of the transaction is estimated at $2.7 billion. The sight is equipped with variable-zoom optics, a built-in rangefinder, a ballistic calculator, atmospheric sensors, laser illumination of the target and other subsystems.

It is also indicated that the winner of the NGSW tender will be announced in the coming months. In November last year, it became known that Textron withdrew from the competition, and RM277 from LoneStar Future Weapons (formerly General Dynamics) with ammunition from True Velocity, as well as SPEAR from SIG Sauer for MG6.8 ammunition will fight for victory.
