Kiev. January 7. INTERFAX-UKRAINE - Reforms will make Ukraine and Georgia stronger and less vulnerable to Russian invasion, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said.
"NATO has demonstrated in recent years that the doors of the organization remain open through the admission of Northern Macedonia and Montenegro as new members of the Alliance. We adhere to our decisions at the Bucharest summit regarding Ukraine and Georgia. We support and help them on the way to further Euro-Atlantic integration, with reforms, practical and political support," Stoltenberg said at a press conference following an extraordinary meeting of NATO foreign ministers in Brussels on Friday.
He expressed confidence that it is important to send a message that reforms are meaningful because it is a way to meet NATO standards, but it also makes the peoples of Ukraine and Georgia stronger.
"Stable, well-functioning societies are also less vulnerable to Russian invasion," Stoltenberg said.
