Paris. January 7. INTERFAX - Russia, in contact with the United States, seeks to resolve security issues in Europe without the participation of European countries, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian believes.
"Yes, they would like that, as they do not hold a particularly high opinion of the EU," he said on RMC radio on Friday, answering a journalist's question.
"We, for our part, say that there can be no European security without the participation of the Europeans themselves," the French minister said.
Le Drian, commenting on Russian security proposals, said that Moscow, in his opinion, is striving for the return of a system in which large countries have their own spheres of influence.
