MOSCOW, January 6/ Sputnik Radio. To stabilize the situation in Kazakhstan, collective peacekeeping forces of the CSTO have been sent to this country for a limited period of time, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the organization's secretariat.
As of 10:20 Moscow time, the first units of peacekeepers arrived in the republic and began to carry out their tasks, the secretariat added.
The transfer of the Russian part of the peacekeepers to the territory of Kazakhstan is carried out by military transport aircraft of the Aerospace Forces.
From the Russian Federation, the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the CSTO included units of Airborne troops.
The main tasks of the Collective Peacekeeping Forces of the CSTO will be the protection of important state and military facilities, assistance to the Kazakh law enforcement forces in stabilizing the situation and returning it to the legal field, the message says.
