The Algerian army has carried out a massive modernization of the Russian-made BTR-80 in operation.

Wheeled combat vehicles as additional weapons received one of the world's most powerful anti-tank missile systems "Kornet", capable of destroying all available foreign tanks.
Such guided missiles at a range of up to 8000 meters can penetrate up to 1300 mm of armor reinforced with anti-cumulative dynamic protection. In addition to ground equipment, it is also possible to defeat low-flying aircraft, helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles of various types.
Externally, the new modification of the armored personnel carrier can be recognized by the presence on the roof of the tower of a raised launcher with two lightly armored ATGM shrouds and sighting equipment.
Updated samples have repeatedly taken part in large-scale military maneuvers.
Along with the "eighties", the BTR-60PB received similar weapons, although they were deprived of regular KPVT and PKT machine guns.
Interestingly, the Algerian ground forces were the first foreign countries to modernize their old BMP-1 with the installation of the Berezhok combat module with Cornet guns, a 30 mm cannon, a 7.62mm machine gun and a 30 mm automatic grenade launcher.
Last year, it was reported that some of the T-62 medium tanks decided to turn into fire support combat vehicles. This project provides for the removal of heavy turrets with 115 mm smoothbore guns. Instead of them, the already mentioned "Berezhki" will be mounted. It is noted that such unusual "sixty-second" will be effective during operations, both against regular troops and in the fight against terrorist groups operating in the desert.
