Moscow. January 4th. INTERFAX - The 102nd Russian military base stationed in Armenia will be fully staffed by contract servicemen in 2021, the press service of the Southern Military District (SE) reported.
"In 2021, the military base of the Southern Military District in Armenia is fully staffed with military personnel undergoing military service under a contract," the press service reported.
They also noted that the military personnel of the military base in Armenia conducted more than 3.5 thousand combat training classes in 2021, which exceeds the same indicator for 2020 by 15%.
"The military air defense units performing round-the-clock duty tasks in the CIS countries' joint air defense system conducted about 250 exercises, half of which took place at night, and the artillery divisions conducted more than 100 live-fire training sessions as part of reconnaissance and firing complexes," the South-Eastern Military District reported.
The 102nd Russian military base is located in Armenia.
In January 2015, an informed source told Interfax that the personnel of the 102nd Russian military base from the spring of 2016 will be staffed exclusively by contract servicemen.
On May 3, 2021, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that two strongholds of the 102nd Russian military base had been established in the Syunik region bordering Azerbaijan and Iran in the south of Armenia.
