The satellite constellation of the British operator OneWeb, which plans to provide all the inhabitants of the Earth with global high-speed Internet, has been replenished with 36 satellites launched into orbit by the Russian Soyuz rocket. The launch of the rocket was led by Arianespace specialists. As a result, the total number of spacecraft at OneWeb's disposal has reached 394.
OneWeb intends to complete the formation of a constellation of 650 satellites in the near future, after which its global Internet service will start operating at full capacity in the coming year. OneWeb competes in providing fast satellite Internet, which will be available in the most remote corners of the Earth, with the head of SpaceX Elon Musk and the billionaire creator of Amazon Jeff Bezos . In accordance with the contract between Roscosmos and Arianespace, the Russian state corporation is to carry out 16 Soyuz launches for OneWeb in the period from the end of 2020 to the end of 2022.
