The IDF has finalized a deal to acquire heavy military helicopters. The press service of the Israeli Defense Ministry announced the signing of contracts with the US Defense Ministry for the supply of 12 Lockheed Martin CH-53K helicopters and two additional Boeing KC-46 tanker aircraft.
The value of the transaction is estimated at $3.1 billion. Of these, $2 billion is the price of 12 CH-53K helicopters with a package of support services, technical support and additional equipment. Another pair of KC-46 is estimated at $1.1 billion. At the same time, Israel will get the equipment for free — the deal will take place within the framework of military assistance from the United States. The contract also includes an option for 6 additional CH-53K helicopters. It is planned that the first helicopters will be delivered in 2026.
