Moscow. January 3. INTERFAX - Over 1.7 thousand spacecraft were launched into orbit in 2021 under the control of the Space Forces of the Russian Aerospace Forces, according to the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Russian Defense Ministry.
"Over the past year, specialists of the Main Center for Space Situation Intelligence (GC RKO) discovered and took over 1,700 spacecraft for escort and monitored their launch into orbit, as well as provided forecasting and monitoring of the termination of ballistic existence of over 400 space objects," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The ministry noted that special attention was paid to monitoring the composition and condition of foreign orbital groupings, as well as preventing dangerous approaches of domestic spacecraft with other space objects.
