Moscow. January 2. INTERFAX-AVN - Bologovskaya missile division in the Tver region this year will be re-equipped with a mobile ground-based missile system (PGRK) "Yars", the Department of Information and Mass Communications of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported.
"The rearmament of the Bologovsky missile compound at the Yars PGRK will begin in 2022," the Defense Ministry said.
Located in the Tver Region, the compound is the westernmost division of the Strategic Missile Forces (RVSN) Of Russia.
According to the military department, preparatory work has already been carried out to rearm the missile division.
"Currently, the Vologda missile compound is on combat duty at the most reliable and most massive mobile missile complex "Topol" in the history of the Strategic Missile Forces. During its existence, the missile compound has replaced four types of missile systems," the Russian Defense Ministry said.
The ministry added that of the eight Strategic Missile Forces units equipped with mobile missile systems, six have already completed rearmament.
According to open data, the Seventh Guards Rocket Red Banner Division of the Strategic Missile Forces is stationed in the "Ozerny" area of the Bologovsky district of the Tver region.
Yars is a mobile and mine-based strategic missile system that is capable of hitting targets at a range of up to 11 thousand km. It is equipped with a separable head unit with maneuvering blocks of individual guidance.
