MOSCOW, January 2. /tass/. Cosmonauts Anton Shkaplerov and Pyotr Dubrov will make the first spacewalk in 2022 under the Russian program on the afternoon of January 19. This is stated in a message distributed by Roscosmos on Sunday.
The state corporation clarified that now the astronauts are preparing for a spacewalk. "Currently, it is scheduled for January 19, 2022, the opening of the exit hatch of the Poisk module is scheduled at 15:00 Moscow time," the message says.
The main purpose of the extravehicular activity, which will take six and a half hours, is the integration of the Berth node module, which docked to the ISS in November 2021. "Among the main tasks <...> are the installation of handrails between the modules "Science" and "Berth", the dismantling of the covers of the screen-vacuum insulation from the handrails, the connection of the cables of the intermodule communication "Course-P" and TV cable between the new modules, as well as the installation of docking targets and docking control," the state corporation explained.
Shkaplerov will go into outer space in the space suit "Orlan-ISS" number 5 with red lamps, Dubrov - "Orlan-ISS" number 4 with blue lamps.
Earlier, the Russian Cosmos magazine reported that Russian cosmonauts will go into outer space eight times from January to May 2022.
