MOSCOW, December 31. /tass/. Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu in his New Year's greetings called the Russian armed forces one of the most modern and effective in the world.
"Today our armed forces are one of the most modern and effective in the world. They reliably ensure the military security of the country, firmly guard its national interests," Shoigu said in his New Year's greetings, which the Defense Ministry cites.
The Minister highly appreciated the contribution of each military man to strengthening the prestige of the Russian army. "Serving in the ranks of the Russian army has become truly honorable and prestigious. And this is a great merit of all of you," the army general said.
He added that "the road of 2021 was far from smooth, but we firmly followed the planned benchmarks, became more experienced, stronger - re-equipped the army and navy, strengthened their combat capability, improved conditions of service."
"Thank you to our military doctors and builders for their selfless and dedicated attitude to the cause, which helps to save the lives of thousands of people in the conditions of a pandemic," Shoigu said.
He expressed special gratitude to "everyone who celebrates this family holiday at a combat post, who fights terrorism far from their homeland, participates in special, peacekeeping and humanitarian operations."
