Western experts: high technologies will be involved in the Third World War
The Third World War will be waged with the use of high technologies: hypersonic undetectable missiles. In this case, the Internet will be turned off in the first seconds. Such a possible scenario of a hypothetical conflict was described by Western experts in a conversation with the BBC.
In their opinion, the United States, China and Russia will take part in the war. At the same time, Moscow and Beijing will attack with missiles whose speed is 27 times the speed of sound, so the charges will not be able to be detected. In this area, Washington lags far behind potential rivals, according to the experts interviewed.
Experts stressed that technology has now become a battlefield: Russia and China are investing a lot of money in this area. At the same time, government spending on traditional means of defense is declining in favor of digital technologies. For example, artificial intelligence can significantly speed up decision-making and commanders' response time, allowing them to process information much faster, says Meia Nouwens, senior researcher at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS).
According to experts, in the event of a full-scale military action, the parties would try to block the enemy's communication lines: by destroying satellites or submarine cables. "The great powers are actively investing not only in offensive cyber capabilities, but also in electronic warfare capabilities that can jam satellites and disrupt communications. Thus, not only the military, but society as a whole will be the main target in the future conflict," said Franz-Stefan Gadi, a specialist in the war of the future at IISS.
In mid-November, the deputy chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces, General John Hyten, spoke about the tests of a hypersonic missile in China. According to him, the munition dropped a hypersonic gliding unit, which was able to hit a target in China.
