MOSCOW, Dec 30 - RIA Novosti. Rosoboronexport named the five most anticipated novelties of domestic weapons, which were presented to foreign customers in 2021, the first place was taken by the promising fifth-generation light fighter Checkmate.
"The top 5 export samples presented in 2021 included the Checkmate light tactical aircraft, which was exhibited at the MAKS and Dubai Airshow, the Orion-E reconnaissance and strike complex shown in Russia and abroad, the Tosochka MLRS with thermobaric ammunition, the AK-19 Kalashnikov assault rifle and the S-350E Vityaz anti-aircraft missile system," the press service of the corporation's CEO Alexander Mikheev quotes.
He noted that in 2021, the global arms market has largely adapted to work in a pandemic. Thus, the Russian special exporter managed to participate in 17 international exhibitions.
Checkmate is the first fifth-generation single-engine aircraft in Russia, created by Sukhoi (part of the United Aircraft Corporation Rostec). For the first time, the fighter was shown in July 2021 at the MAKS-2021 aerospace salon. The key features of the machine are low visibility, low cost of flight hours, open architecture and high performance according to the "cost — effectiveness" criterion.
