Moscow. December 29. INTERFAX - The volume of revenue of Oboronlogistics by the end of 2021 increased by almost 40% compared to last year, there was an increase in traffic to Syria and the Arctic region of the Russian Federation, the company's press service reported on Wednesday.
"Sea transportation showed the greatest positive dynamics. The company's vessels were actively involved in the waters of the southern and northern seas, as well as on the Ust-Luga - Baltiysk ferry line, where the increase in traffic volume for the second year in a row amounted to more than 30% compared to last year," the report said.
According to the press service, in the outgoing year, the ferries Ambal (owned by Oboronlogistics) and Baltiysk (leased to Oboronlogistics at the end of 2020) operated on the line. In the near future, it is planned to put into operation two additional ferries "Marshal Rokossovsky" and "General Chernyakhovsky". In November 2021, according to the results of the competition, Oboronlogistics was determined as an agent for the organization of cargo and passenger transportation on new ferries.
"In 2021, Oboronlogistics vessels delivered more than 45 thousand tons of cargo to the Arctic points (Alexandra Island of the Franz Josef Land archipelago, the Novaya Zemlya Archipelago, the Sabetta port, the Kharasaway port point of the Yamal Peninsula) for the military construction complex of the Russian Defense Ministry, the oil and gas complex and other organizations engaged in the construction of industrial and social infrastructure facilities in the Arctic zone of the Russian Federation. In addition, the company's vessels were regularly used to export scrap metal and used equipment as part of the Arctic cleanup program," the press release says.
The report notes that in 2021, the regular shipping line connecting the ports of Novorossiysk (Russia) and Tartus (Syria) turned five years old. During this time, hundreds of flights were carried out, tens of thousands of tons of industrial equipment, machinery and construction goods were delivered, intended for the restoration of the Syrian economy, including humanitarian aid for Syria. In the opposite direction, light industry goods, fruits and fertilizers come from the republic.
According to foreign media, chartered vessels, as well as the forces of the auxiliary fleet of the Russian Navy, are participating in the operation "Syrian Express" for the delivery of cargo, in particular, for the Naval logistics base in Tartus, the Russian air group at the Khmeimim airbase near Latakia and the Syrian government army. The operation is being conducted as part of the military campaign launched by Russia on September 30, 2015 in Syria.
