The new regiment also appeared as part of the 76th Airborne Division in Pskov
ROSTOV-ON-DON, December 29. /tass/. The formation of a new airborne assault regiment of Airborne Troops (airborne) has been completed in the Crimea. This was reported on Wednesday by the newspaper Krasnaya Zvezda with reference to the commander of the Airborne Forces Andrei Serdyukov.
"Two amphibious assault regiments have been formed in Pskov and Crimea as part of amphibious assault divisions, which have strengthened the combat potential of our Armed Forces in the west and south of the country," the commander said in an article published in the publication.
In November, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that by December 1, the third airborne assault regiment will be formed as part of the Novorossiysk Airborne unit. It was noted that the regiment was being created as part of the re-formation of the Kamyshinsky separate Guards airborne assault unit.
Previously, the 76th Airborne Assault Division (Pskov) and the 7th Airborne Assault (Mountain) Division (Novorossiysk) had two regiments each.
