MOSCOW, Dec 28 - RIA Novosti. Russia has offered India to develop a new Indian main battle tank based on the universal Armata platform, the press secretary of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSVTS) of Russia, Valeria Reshetnikova, said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
"During the recent Russian-Indian intergovernmental commission on military and military-technical cooperation and the Russian-Indian summit, Indian partners were offered new areas of work, including the creation of armored vehicles based on the Armata platform according to the customer's specifications, especially considering that the Indian military plans to launch work on the creation of a new main battle tank," Reshetnikova said.
The main battle tank is a foreign term for a multi-purpose tank that combines high firepower, security and mobility.
A new generation T-14 tank based on the Armata universal platform has been created in Russia. A distinctive feature of the machine is a completely uninhabited tower, the crew of the tank is in a separate capsule inside the hull. On the basis of the Armata platform, the T-15 BMP, an armored repair and evacuation vehicle, has also been created.
Currently, armored vehicles on the Armata platform are undergoing state tests for the Russian Armed Forces.
