In Dagestan, the calculations of the coastal missile complex "Bal" took up combat duty. The servicemen will perform tasks for the defense of the naval base in Kaspiysk during the New Year and Christmas holidays.
"The tasks of the anti-ship complex include protecting the coast from possible enemy amphibious operations and protecting sea communications," the press secretary of the Southern Military District, Colonel Vadim Astafyev, told RG.
Before taking up combat duty, the calculations of the coastal missile complex "Bal" conducted a complex of classes and trainings at the Adanak training ground. They have worked out the tasks of detecting and classifying marine targets, transmitting data to the starting positions for making a decision on the use of the complex.
The coastal missile complex "Bal" is a military unit of the divisional level and consists of vehicles on a four-axle high-terrain platform MAZ-7930. The complex is equipped with subsonic cruise anti-ship missiles X-35U with a firing range of up to 260 kilometers. The active-passive radar homing head "Gran-K" allows you to capture a target at a distance of 50 kilometers.
The preparation time for shooting is only about 10 minutes. Target designation "Ball" receives both from its own radar, and from reconnaissance drones or over-the-horizon radars. Shooting can be carried out both in single launches and in a volley - the interval is only three seconds.
