Moscow. December 27. INTERFAX-AVN - The forces of the military air defense (air defense) of the Western Military District conducted an exercise to repel a massive air strike by the "enemy" on strategic objects, the press service of the ZVO reported.
"In total, about 1,000 servicemen took part in the tactical exercise, which took place on the professional holiday of the air defense specialists of the Ground Forces, and almost 200 units of weapons, military and special equipment were involved," the press service said.
They noted that the air defense forces of the Far East, in particular, have anti-aircraft missile systems S-300V, "Tor-M2", as well as portable complexes (MANPADS) "Igla" with various types of missile weapons.
According to the ZVO headquarters, during the exercise, the servicemen worked out an operational advance to the area of deployment of the main troops, repelling the attack of enemy reconnaissance and sabotage groups on the column and on the place of deployment of units.
"The final stage of the exercise was the execution of electronic launches against aircraft and ballistic missiles of the "enemy" in the conditions of the use of electronic suppression means, as well as the performance of anti-fire maneuvers with a further change of firing positions," the press service said.
The Day of military air defense is celebrated by the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on December 26.
"The commander of the Western Military District, Colonel-General Alexander Zhuravlev, congratulated the anti-aircraft gunners on their professional holiday.
