The head of the Ministry of Defense stressed that the Day of the rescuer is a special and expensive holiday for him
MOSCOW, December 27. /tass/. Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu considers the Russian emergency prevention and response system to be the most effective and powerful in the world. This is stated in the congratulations on the Day of the Rescuer, which the Minister of Defense sent on Monday.
"I would like to express my gratitude to those who stood at the origins of the creation of the entire system of emergency prevention and response, as well as to the current employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, who today, sparing no effort, with their daily heroic work confirms its high status as the most effective and powerful in the world, capable of resisting any man-made and natural threats," the text says.
Shoigu stressed that the Day of the Rescuer of the Russian Federation is a special and dear holiday for him. "Being a lifeguard is the lot of courageous people, it is a vocation and a formula for life. Loyalty to duty, constant readiness to be the first to come to the rescue, determination, empathy and dedication - these qualities are inseparable for the military and rescue professions," the minister said.
Shoigu stressed that Russian rescuers have saved millions of lives, eliminated thousands of emergencies, and conducted hundreds of humanitarian operations. "Behind these figures is the meaning and result of your hard and dangerous service," the congratulation reads.
"I am sure that in the future the traditions, professionalism and responsibility laid down will always remain a guide for the modern generation of rescuers," the minister concluded, wishing good health, inexhaustible vitality, success in the activities and implementation of the planned plans.
On December 27, 1990, a completely new service for the country was created in Russia - the Russian Rescue Corps, which was soon transformed into the State Committee for Emergency Situations and then, in 2004, into the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia. Over the years, the rescue service of Russia has turned into a mobile, technically equipped structure, consisting of rescuers, firefighters, aviators, pyrotechnics, psychologists, doctors, dog handlers, divers, climbers, employees of the State Inspectorate for Small Vessels and State Supervision, mountain rescuers and civil defense servicemen.
