Kommersant: The Ministry of Finance offers PC manufacturers to install Russian operating systems
The Ministry of Finance offers HP, Acer and Lenovo companies to install Russian operating systems (OS) on laptops and computers that are sold without an operating system. This is reported by Kommersant.
According to the interlocutor of the publication, the task is to ensure the installation of Russian operating systems for at least 100 thousand laptops and computers in 2022, and then up to a million per year.
"The experiment is planned to be launched in the first quarter of 2022. If the experience turns out to be successful, it is possible to reach 1 million OS installations per year," the expert said.
However, without a legislative obligation, manufacturers are unlikely to agree to install Russian ones, since consumers will not be interested in devices on such systems: they lose to Windows in the choice of applications.
