BELGRADE, December 25. /tass/. Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic called the installations of anti-tank missile systems (ATGM) "Kornet" the best in the world. According to the Serbian leader, they are superior to the American Javelin missile systems. The Serbian leader made such a statement on Friday in an interview with Prva TV.
"I am very pleased with this delivery, "Cornet" is very important. Look at how they worked in Syria, their middle name is "tank killer". <...> These are the best missiles in the world, they are a little better than Javelin missile systems, which are also fantastic. This strengthens the Serbian army," the president said.
Earlier, the newspaper Politika reported that a batch of anti-tank missile systems (ATGMS) "Kornet" launchers arrived from Russia to Serbia. The publication reports that the "Cornets" were delivered to the Belgrade military airfield Batajnica on Thursday by an Il-76 transport military aircraft from Russia.
On December 2, Serbian Interior Minister Aleksandar Vulin, during talks with Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu in Moscow, announced the receipt of Kornet ATGM launchers. We have received the "cornets"," the minister said.
Earlier, Russia transferred 30 T-72MS tanks and 30 BRDM-2MS armored personnel carriers to Serbia. From 2018 to February 2020, Russia provided Serbia with four Mi-35M helicopters, six MiG-29 fighters, 10 BRDM-2, three Mi-17V-5 transport helicopters, as well as Pantsir-S1 anti-aircraft missile and gun systems as military-technical assistance.
