TSAMTO, December 23. In the combined arms army of the VVO, stationed in the Trans-Baikal Territory, the rearmament of machine gunners of units with Pecheneg machine guns of various modifications has been completed.
Currently, new models of small arms are widely used by military personnel during combat training, various exercises and trainings.
The 7.62 mm Pecheneg light machine gun is designed to destroy manpower, transport and firepower, as well as low-flying aerial targets. It is developed on the basis of the upgraded Kalashnikov machine gun (PKM). Compared with the PCM, the accuracy of firing and the survivability of the barrel are almost doubled in the new model of weapons. The entire range of existing rifle cartridges of 7.62 mm can be used for firing a machine gun.
The machine gun uses a system of forced air cooling of the barrel due to the energy of powder gases. The adjustable gas outlet mechanism allows the Pecheneg to be operated in any climatic conditions of the Far East.
"Pecheneg-N" combines the high firepower of a machine gun with the maneuverability of a light machine gun, provides for the installation of additional tactical modules. The weight of the machine gun is 8.7 kg, the rate of fire is 650 rpm, the press service of the Eastern Military District reports.
