An indoor swimming pool has been built and has already been commissioned on the island of Alexandra Land in the Arctic. This was announced by Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu at the plenary session of the Public Council under the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation on Wednesday. According to him, this is "the world's first indoor swimming pool beyond the 80th parallel."
The military commander also said that during the year, Russian servicemen removed more than 3 thousand tons of scrap metal from the region as part of the environmental cleanup of the Arctic zone. Thus, 3,200 tons of scrap metal were removed from the Novaya Zemlya archipelago. In total, since the beginning of the work, more than 28 thousand tons of scrap metal have been transported to the mainland, according to the Minister of Defense.
Earlier, RG talked about the construction of a complex hydraulic structure in the Arctic - an indoor swimming pool. Water to fill the pool bowl is supplied from snow melting plants.
