VLADIVOSTOK, Dec 22 - RIA Novosti. The servicemen of the Eastern Military District in Buryatia have received the latest portable air defense missile systems (MANPADS) "Willow", the press service of the Air Defense Ministry reports.
"The personnel of two anti-aircraft units of the motorized rifle unit of the Air Defense Forces, stationed in the Republic of Buryatia, are being retrained for the latest portable air defense missile systems "Verba", which have been received by the compound. Anti-aircraft gunners will undergo an intensive refresher course in one of the training centers of the air defense forces," the report says.
Before starting practical training, military personnel will study the tactical and technical characteristics of MANPADS.
After that, the military personnel will deploy the complex at the training ground of the air defense training center. Also, the military personnel will work out the detection, tracking and destruction of targets simulating low-flying inconspicuous targets of a conditional enemy - cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles.
The newest MANPADS "Willow" is designed to defeat low-flying targets on oncoming and catch-up courses. The automated control system of the complex allows you to detect single and group air targets and determine the parameters of their flight. The complex includes a launcher, a rocket, a "friend-foe" system.
