MOSCOW, December 21. /tass/. Work has been completed to increase the runway of the Khmeimim airfield in Syria. This was announced on Tuesday by Russian Defense Minister General of the Army Sergei Shoigu at an expanded meeting of the board of the military department.
"In Syria, work has been completed at the Khmeimim airfield to increase the Western runway," he said.
According to Shoigu, the improvement of the military and social infrastructure of Russian bases abroad continues. Thus, the construction of a cultural and leisure center and a sports complex with a total area of over 8 thousand square meters was completed in Armenia.
