The Drive: Russian Orion UAV is capable of shooting down Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones
The Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) "Orion" has become a real "drone killer", having learned to destroy other drones, says The Drive.
Thus, the American edition commented on the recent tests of the Orion in the Crimea, where the latter shot down a helicopter-type drone with a guided missile during an air battle from a height of four kilometers.
It is noted that Orion is capable not only of shooting down Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones, but also of acting as their competitor in foreign markets. "The tests of the Orion UAV in the role of an interceptor of drones over the Crimea also look like a clear signal for Ukraine," the publication of the magazine from the United States says.
The publication notes that, most likely, a new Russian X-UAV missile was used from Orion, which is a development of the Kornet-D anti-tank guided missile system ammunition line, and a product resembling the Austrian Camcopter S-100 unmanned helicopter was used as a target.
In November, RIA Novosti With reference to the General director of Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheev, it was reported that in 2021, the Orion-E reconnaissance and strike drone entered the foreign market, which interested foreign customers.
