As the executive director of Roscosmos for manned Space Programs Sergey Krikalev noted, if there is a need, the space industry can produce two more ships per year
STAR CITY /Moscow region/, December 20. /tass/. The Russian space industry has the ability to produce four manned spacecraft per year for flights into orbit. This was announced by the executive director of Roscosmos for manned space programs Sergey Krikalev.
"Now that the Americans have started flying on their ships, and we are on our own, we need two ships for our program and, if there is a need, the industry can produce two more ships a year," Krikalev told reporters at a solemn meeting of the crew members of the Soyuz MS-20 spacecraft in Star City.
Earlier, Roscosmos Director General Dmitry Rogozin, at a meeting of the industry operational headquarters, instructed the Rocket and Space Corporation (RSC) Energia to develop a plan to increase the production of Soyuz MS manned spacecraft to four manned ships per year. As specified in the state corporation, such measures are necessary for the development of space tourism. In turn, the head of Roscosmos noted that tourism brings money that goes to modernize the rocket and space industry.
