Roselectronics Holding of Rostec State Corporation set an absolute annual record for sales of reed switches on December 16, delivering 234 million 546 thousand devices to customers. More than 90% of the manufactured products are exported to 55 countries around the world. Reed switches are used as contact pairs of various relays, switches, buttons, sensors and indicators in household appliances, automotive, medical and telecommunications equipment, automation and security systems.
Magnetically controlled sealed contacts (reed switches) are manufactured at the Ryazan Plant of Metal-ceramic devices (RZMKP, part of Roselectronics). The company occupies 14% of the global reed switch market, is one of the three world leaders and produces more than 20 types of devices with a bulb length from 7 to 50 mm and a switching power from 1 to 250 watts.
The previous record lasted 30 years – in 1991, RZMKP shipped 232 million pieces of reed switches to customers. At that time, almost all products were supplied to the domestic market mainly for the defense industry. This year, the plant not only set a sales record – in March, a five-billion reed switch was released at RZMKP.
