The features of the latest armored scout PRP-5 are revealed

The features of the Russian newest mobile reconnaissance point PRP-5 are revealed. According to the National Defense publication, this combat vehicle, created in Tula PJSC NPO Strela, is in no way inferior to the best foreign models.

A characteristic distinguishing feature is the presence on it of a lifting-mast device with a height of six meters, on which optical and radar detection devices are installed.

The crew has the most modern equipment at their disposal: communications, navigation radar, high-definition television, thermal imaging and laser rangefinder. The maximum measured firing range for large-sized targets is fifteen kilometers.

Also on board there is a remote observation post with the Sagittarius complex, an all-day portable reconnaissance device, unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with video and thermal imaging cameras.

Incoming data is processed automatically with information displayed on an electronic map of the area.

The "Five" is armed with a 12.7 mm machine gun placed in a remote-controlled module. Ammunition - a thousand rounds.

There is also a system capable of warning about laser irradiation and protecting against high-precision weapons by setting impermeable aerosol curtains.

For the first time, the PRP-5 on the chassis of a wheeled armored personnel carrier BTR-82 was shown in Tula at a parade dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

This year, a variant made on the platform of the BMP-3 infantry fighting vehicle was demonstrated.
