The United States assessed the potential capabilities of a combat tandem consisting of a fifth-generation Russian fighter Su-57 and a heavy attack drone S-70 "Hunter".
According to 19FortyFive, the Su-57 and S-70 are a "formidable team." The concept of a loyal wingman means that both aircraft can exchange information necessary in combat. At the same time, the strike drone has some autonomous capabilities.
"The combination of the Hunter and the Su-57 gives the Russians more opportunities during the battle. The pilot of the Su-57 can send a drone to perform a dangerous task," the publication says.
The publication mentions a "Hunter" caught on video with a flat nozzle, which makes it less noticeable. Also, the author of the material draws attention to the low visibility of the Su-57 itself. This allows the Su-57 and the Hunter to operate behind enemy lines.
"Hunter" certainly deserves attention. The action paired with an invisible aircraft should raise concerns about the possibility of their interception by the air Force. The Russians may also start launching Hunters from landing ships in the future, and then the US Navy will have to deal with an invisible drone," 19FortyFive summarizes.
