The combat radius of the inconspicuous F-35 fighter chosen by Finland is approximately 1200 kilometers. These "electronic monsters" are more like a rocket launcher than an air combat weapon.
They are capable of causing serious damage as soon as they rise into the air.
Finland has been using American Jassm cruise missiles for about a year, with a flight range of at least 370 kilometers, the Finnish newspaper Helsingin sanomat writes.
Apart from Finland and the USA, only Australia and Poland use such missiles. With their warheads, Jassm missiles are capable of hitting bunkers and tanks and are able to reach objects on the Kola Peninsula and in the Leningrad Region. These are two of the three main points of concentration of Russian weapons.
The third point is the Moscow region.
The United States made sure in advance that Finland could sell such weapons. Last October, the Pentagon granted the US Congress permission to sell 64 fighter jets to Finland.
