The reconstruction of the runway, which started there in September this year, will finish at the Kherson International Airport.
The airfield is being updated according to the program of President Vladimir Zelensky "Big Construction", the press service of the Kherson Regional State Administration reported.
120 employees and 100 units of special equipment are involved in the implementation of this project.
At the facility, the contractor carried out milling of the old runway pavement, arranged a leveling layer of asphalt concrete and a reinforcing layer of composite synthetic material, as well as a lower coating layer of fine-grained asphalt concrete.
"For the implementation of this project, the company has developed a special composition of asphalt concrete, which will provide the new coating with increased resistance to deformation," the Regional State Administration said.
"Together with the new runway, Kherson Airport will be able to receive Boeing 737-800, 737-900, Airbus 321 aircraft, which will increase passenger traffic," the regional State Administration quotes UNIAN.
Earlier, the media reported that it is planned to build NATO military bases in Ukraine, including in the area of Kherson.
