TSAMTO, December 17. The Peruvian authorities have begun the process of imposing penalties for disrupting the delivery of the AN-178 transport aircraft by Ukraine, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the Infodefensa publication.
The process of charging fines reportedly began on October 24. For each of the first two months of delay, they will amount to 5 thousand dollars, for the third, fourth and fifth Ukraine will have to pay 35 thousand dollars, and between the fifth and twelfth months - 70 thousand dollars. At the end of the year, the customer has the right to terminate the contract, which was signed in November 2019.
Earlier, a source in the defense industry told RIA Novosti that the Ukrainian side deliberately misinformed the Peruvians in 2018, promising that there would be no problems with Russian components for the An-178, but in fact the aircraft is only 40% ready, since there are no Russian components for it, Ukrainians could not find a replacement for them.
As the agency reminds, "Ukroboronprom" represented by the company "Spetstechnoexport" previously won the tender of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Peru and signed a contract with Lima worth about $ 65 million for the supply and maintenance of one AN-178.
The AN-178 is a Ukrainian short-haul transport aircraft based on the AN-158 (AN-148 modifications) with a payload capacity of 18 tons. The AN-178 is positioned on the market as a replacement for the AN-12 transport aircraft. At the moment, Antonov State Enterprise has produced two copies of the aircraft, including an experimental machine for static tests.
