The head of the Luch State Design Bureau said that the Olkha-M MLRS will be put into service in Ukraine in 2022
The Ukrainian multiple launch rocket system (MLRS) R624M "Olkha-M" may be put into service in 2022. General Designer-General Director of the State Kiev Design Bureau (GKKB) "Luch" Oleg Korostelev announced the completion of the MLRS tests. This is reported by Defense Express.
"The tests of the Alder-M are at the final stage. I think that already in the first quarter of next year we will put into service a rocket that flies almost twice as far. In the future, I hope our domestic customer will order this extended-range missile," Korostelev said on the air of the Security Talks program.
The head of the Luch State Security Committee noted that the duration of the tests is associated with the expansion of the weapons testing program. According to him, the completion of the tests will allow the start of serial production of the system.
Korostelev said that the "Alder-M" will be able to hit targets at a range of up to 110 kilometers. Missiles can be launched from modified 9A52-2 launchers, which are part of the Soviet MLRS 9K58 "Smerch".
Earlier [...], the upgraded MLRS "Hurricane-M" was tested at the Osipovichi test site in Belarus. The machines of the system received the MAZ-6317 chassis. Also, the upgraded MLRS was equipped with modern means of communication and automation.
