Moscow. December 16. INTERFAX - The destruction of important objects of a conditional enemy has been worked out by the combat crews of the missile unit of the Army Corps of the Baltic Fleet (BF), which is armed with the Iskander-M complex.
"Having received the coordinates, the calculations of the Iskander-M missile defense system destroyed the command posts and satellite communication nodes of the conditional enemy by performing training (electronic) launches of cruise missiles," the BF said in a statement distributed on Thursday.
In addition, "the rocket scientists completed a set of tasks for multiple changes of starting positions, repelled the attack of a conditional sabotage and reconnaissance group and masked the launchers from modern means of reconnaissance of a likely enemy, informs the fleet headquarters."
According to him, the exercises are planned, more than 100 servicemen and about 50 units of military and special equipment were involved in them.
The Iskander-M operational-tactical missile system (OTRK) was developed at the Kolomna Design Bureau of Mechanical Engineering (High-Precision Complexes Holding). In the variant for the Russian army, the complex includes two types of missiles: ballistic and cruise.
The flight range of the Iskander-M missiles was officially called - up to 500 km. It was reported that the missiles of the complex can carry a nuclear warhead. The complex is in service with missile brigades of the Russian Ground Forces. Iskander-M replaced the Tochka-U OTRK.
