A suborbital flight to an altitude of more than 100 km is planned by the company for 2022
MOSCOW, December 16. /tass/. The private space company Success Rockets plans to launch an orbital rocket in 2024. This was stated by the company's CEO Oleg Mansurov at a meeting in the Federation Council dedicated to improving legislation in the field of space activities in order to create a space services market.
"If we are talking about a suborbital flight to an altitude of more than 100 km, according to the company's plans, this will take place next year, and so far all the prerequisites lead to this. If we talk about a full-fledged orbital launch, this is 2024, and we are moving towards this," Mansurov said.
According to him, the company plans to start with the launch of Earth remote sensing satellites, and then move on to manned programs, but in cooperation with Roscosmos.
"The suborbital mass will be small - 20 kilograms. This is what Roshydromet needs, and what is required for geophysical research by the institutes of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and if we talk about an orbital rocket, then there are 250 kilograms in low-Earth orbit. For a solar synchronous - about 150 kilograms," he said.
Earlier, the private Russian space corporation Success Rockets presented a demonstration model of the Diana satellite for monitoring major greenhouse gases at the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26) in Glasgow.
The company plans to create a global climate monitoring system, which will consist of a satellite segment, ground infrastructure and a hardware and software complex coupled with ground-based automatic and instrumental monitoring. The space part will be a grouping of several dozen satellites.
