Izhevsk. December 16. INTERFAX-VOLGA REGION - Employees of the Udmurt Federal Research Center (UdmFIC) Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences has developed camouflage muffs to protect snipers' hands from frostbite, the press service of the center reported on Thursday.
"Several variants of couplings have been developed that are designed to protect the sniper's working hand from frostbite, preserve heat during prolonged waiting and aiming in order to increase the accuracy of shooting in the cold, snowfall and strong wind," the report says.
It is emphasized that the design of the couplings allows not only to protect the hand, but also to divert spent cartridges into a special cavity, improving the quality of the shooter's disguise.
The message quotes the words of one of the co-authors of the invention, a leading researcher of the center, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Alexander Urakov, that he was inspired to develop in the field of small arms by a meeting with designer Mikhail Kalashnikov and his son Viktor. According to Urakov, the problem of protecting the hands of soldiers of the Nordic countries from frostbite was discussed at a meeting of the European Association of Thermologists in Frankfurt.
The report notes that the equipment created on the same principles can be used to protect the hands of railway workers and representatives of other professions working in cold conditions.
