MOSCOW, Dec 15 - RIA Novosti. Military exercises on the protection of airspace using the S-400 Triumph air defense system were held in Crimea, the press service of the Southern Military District reported on Wednesday.
"The combat crews of the S-400 Triumph air defense system of the Air Force and Air Defense units of the Southern Military District stationed in the Crimea conducted a tactical and special air defense exercise. The role of the enemy was played by front-line Su-24M bombers of the mixed aviation association of the Air Force and Air Defense of the Southern Federal District,"the report says.
During the exercise, the calculations of the "Triumphs" performed the folding of launchers and radar installations, marched to a new positional area, deployed launchers, and also carried out the binding to the coordinates and orientation of the complexes on the ground with further bringing into combat mode and the beginning of data collection on the air situation
Then the servicemen discovered, took on escort and "hit" the enemy with electronic launches.
The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation noted that these exercises are planned. At the same time, they are taking place against the background of general tension in the Black Sea and Ukrainian directions.
