The enterprises of the integrated structure of the rocket engine building of Roscosmos are preparing engineering notes on options for building a second-stage carrier engine
MOSCOW, December 15. /tass/. The final deadlines for the completion of the preliminary design of the Amur methane launch vehicle with the return stage will be set after evaluating the options for the second stage engine. This was reported to TASS by the press service of the Progress Rocket and Space Center (RCC) (part of Roscosmos).
"The final deadline for the completion of the preliminary design will be set after a commission evaluation of the variants of the second-stage engine of the Amur launch vehicle," the press service noted.
As specified in the RCC "Progress", now the enterprises of the integrated structure of the rocket engine building of Roscosmos are preparing engineering notes on options for building the engine of the second stage of the Amur launch vehicle. "The purpose of these works is to obtain the most promising engine - optimal in design and the most energy efficient," they added.
At the end of August, the press service of the Progress RCC informed TASS that the preliminary design of the Amur methane launch vehicle with a returnable stage was sent to the main research institutes of the rocket and space industry. Then the company noted that the majority of research institutes issued positive conclusions on the materials of the draft project. At the same time, they did not rule out the possibility of increasing the terms of its development due to the need for its completion.
In October last year, Roscosmos and the Progress RCC signed a contract for the development of a preliminary design of a space rocket complex with the first Russian reusable rocket powered by methane "Amur". The rocket will receive a returnable first stage and will be launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome in the Amur Region.
