The Russian President stressed the importance of immediately launching international negotiations to develop guarantees that exclude NATO's advance to the East
Moscow. December 14th. INTERFAX - The Presidents of the Russian Federation and France, Vladimir Putin and Emmanuel Macron, in a telephone conversation outlined their principled assessments of the current situation around Ukraine, the Kremlin's press service reports.
"Vladimir Putin gave concrete examples of Kiev's violation of the Minsk Agreements, which are an uncontested basis for resolving the internal Ukrainian crisis. It was also noted that the Ukrainian authorities are deliberately aggravating the situation on the line of contact, and with the connivance of a number of Western countries. In addition, Ukraine is being pumped with modern weapons, which creates a direct threat to Russia's security," the report says.
The Russian President also stressed the importance of immediately launching international negotiations to develop legally fixed guarantees that exclude any further advance of NATO to the East and the deployment of weapons threatening Russia in neighboring states, primarily in Ukraine. "This was also discussed during a recent videoconference with US President Joseph Biden," the press service recalls.
"The Russian leader called on the French partners to understand the concerns expressed and take part in their discussion," the message says.
In addition, the leaders exchanged views on the efforts being made in both countries to combat the spread of coronavirus infection.
