The United Aircraft Corporation of the Rostec State Corporation for the first time showed the S-70 Hunter drone equipped with a flat jet nozzle. The aviation complex has reduced radar visibility and will receive a new ground control center.
The UAV was created by Sukhoi as part of the development work under the Hunter program. The roll-out of the new model took place at the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant named after V.P. Chkalov.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Alexey Krivoruchko. He noted that the Hunter is a highly intelligent system and is capable of solving a wide range of tasks singly, in a group and together with manned aircraft.
"Advanced achievements of enterprises and organizations of the domestic defense industrial complex are concentrated in the UAV, which made it possible to provide functionality that is not inferior, but in a number of parameters surpassing the few (single) foreign analogues," Alexey Krivoruchko said.
The technologies developed on the prototypes will be used in the creation of other promising aviation complexes – both manned and unmanned.
"The main feature of the new Hunter is the flat nozzle of the engine. Due to this, the radar visibility of the car is reduced. In addition, a new ground control point is being created for the drone, designed taking into account the requirements of the military. These solutions will significantly increase the capabilities of the machine," commented Sergey Chemezov, CEO of Rostec State Corporation.
Work on the Hunter program has been carried out at the Sukhoi Design Bureau since 2011. An experimental sample with a traditional jet nozzle made its first flight under the program in August 2019. It lasted 20 minutes. In the same year, his first joint flight with the fifth-generation Su-57 fighter took place, Rostec noted.
"The S-70 is a promising aviation platform with a huge potential for the development of a family of unmanned systems of the future based on it. Work on the Hunter program is one of the key areas for Sukhoi and UAC. The development of the unmanned direction fully meets the challenges of the time and the customer's requests. Today we are making every effort to complete the tests as soon as possible and enter mass production," commented Yuri Slyusar, General Director of the United Aircraft Corporation.
