MOSCOW, Dec 13 - RIA Novosti. It can be assumed that Russia will transmit its proposals on security guarantees to the United States through diplomatic channels this week, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
"The president actually said that it would be done within a week. Well, accordingly, we can assume that this week," he told reporters.
Peskov added that "it will be through diplomatic channels, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs."
The Presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States, Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden, held closed-door talks last Tuesday via a secure video link, they lasted two hours. Following their results, the White House reported that Biden expressed concern about the situation around Ukraine, called for a diplomatic settlement and threatened decisive measures, including economic ones. Putin informed his American counterpart about Ukraine's non-compliance with the Minsk agreements and sabotage of the agreements, and also noted that it is NATO that is making dangerous attempts to develop Ukrainian territory and is building up military potential near Russian borders.
The next day, Biden announced that a meeting of the United States and the leading NATO countries with Russia was being prepared. According to him, a high-level meeting will be announced between the United States and at least four major NATO allies with Russia to discuss Russia's concerns about NATO expansion and work out measures to reduce tension on the eastern flank of the alliance.
