The protection of the skies of the Crimean Peninsula, the Kerch Strait and the regions of the North Caucasus will soon be strengthened with upgraded S-300PM air defense systems.
According to sources in the military-industrial complex, the decision to strengthen air defense in the South of the European part of Russia has already been made to the Ministry of Defense.
In 2021, the Southern Military District received about one and a half thousand samples of new military equipment - helicopters, airplanes, air defense systems, warships and armored vehicles, as well as electronic warfare equipment.
"NATO countries will keep Russia in suspense constantly. They not only conduct intelligence activities, but also show their military might. From this region, NATO planes and ships can launch a missile strike on cities in the south and even the center of the country, including Moscow. New equipment, as well as the capabilities of our armed forces in this area, play an important role, influencing international politics," said former Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ordzhonikidze.
Earlier it became known that the S-550 and S-500 will provide Russian facilities with joint protection against hypersonic targets, Izvestia reminds.
