MOSCOW, Dec 13 - RIA Novosti. Specialists of the 27th scientific center of the Russian Ministry of Defense have designed an innovative means of protection - an armored helmet-a gas mask that protects both from the effects of weapons of mass destruction and from "ordinary" damaging elements (cartridges, fragments), follows from a document posted on the Rospatent website .
According to the description of the invention, the helmet consists of a body, a protective visor glass, an intercom device, an exhalation valve, filter-sorbing (absorbing gases and other substances) elements (FSE), as well as a device for safe liquid intake.
At the same time, removable FSES of two or three types are used to protect the respiratory organs, which can be quickly selected, depending on what kind of chemical weapons the enemy uses. These filters, made in the form of flat discs divided into segments filled with sorbent, are arranged symmetrically on both sides of the helmet in the ear-temple area.
According to the abstract, the filters used in the helmet are able to protect military personnel from radioactive dust, toxic substances, industrial toxic chemicals and biological agents.
Among other advantages of the armored helmet-gas mask is working in the "ready" mode with the ability to switch to the "combat" position when threatened with the use of chemical weapons for 3-4 seconds, which reduces the probability of hitting troops up to 50 times compared to existing personal protective equipment.
Justifying the expediency of this invention, scientists give a description of another helmet created in Russia-a gas mask. According to experts of the 27th Scientific Center of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, previous models of such helmets have a number of disadvantages. So, it is impossible to change filters on them, their very location in the front part of the helmet, and not on the temples, interferes with shooting, there was no possibility to switch the gas mask between passive and working mode, which is why its battery is quickly discharged. It is assumed that these and other flaws will be eliminated in the development of Russian military specialists.
