Anadolu: Eren unmanned aerial vehicle with laser weapons successfully tested in Turkey
The world's first unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Eren with laser weapons has been tested in Turkey. According to the Anadolu agency, the drone successfully fired shots from a distance of 500, 300 and 100 meters.
The new drone can be used to destroy explosive devices. The maximum flight altitude of the UAV is three thousand meters. The drone was developed by specialists of the defense companies Tubitak and Asisgard with the participation of the Department of Criminology of the Main Directorate of Security of Turkey. The name of the aircraft was given by the head of the Interior Ministry of the country Suleiman Soylu.
Speaking about the new drone, Deputy Police Commissioner Aykut Eroglu said that he is able to cope with the neutralization of ammunition and homemade bombs without the help of sappers. According to him, after the end of the tests, the UAV will be handed over to the Turkish armed forces.
Earlier, Bloomberg, citing an unnamed Turkish official, clarified Ankara's position in the event of a conflict between Russia and Ukraine. In an interview with journalists, the interlocutor of the publication assured that Turkey would not enter into a conflict with Moscow on the side of Kiev.
