Popular Mechanics: FGM-148 Javelin complexes in Ukraine are vulnerable to Russian artillery
American portable FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missile systems in Ukraine are not enough to confront Russia, writes Popular Mechanics.
The magazine says that Kiev's existing complexes from the United States will be enough to arm only 3 of the 28 territorial defense battalions. "In addition, three battalions are enough to cover about seven miles (about 11 kilometers - approx. "Tapes.ru") of the front line, while the border of Ukraine with Russia is 1,400 miles (over 2,253 kilometers - approx. "Tapes.<url>")," writes the American edition.
Popular Mechanics notes that Russia is able to determine the location of a few FGM-148 Javelin installations that are vulnerable to Russian artillery fire.
The publication writes that in the event of the introduction of Russian troops into the territory of Ukraine, American complexes "are likely to play a secondary role." "This is an excellent missile, but in current quantities it does not pose a threat to Russian armored personnel carriers," the newspaper writes.
In November, the American edition of The Drive stated that amid growing US concerns about a possible Russian invasion of Ukraine, Russian tanks could be upgraded to protect against barrage ammunition and other unmanned aerial vehicles available to Kiev.
