The Progress Rocket and Space Center is already manufacturing the first new-generation Resurs-PM satellites, TASS reported on Saturday, December 11.
"The production of Resurs-PM spacecraft is carried out in the production units of Progress RCC JSC in accordance with the schedule," the Progress RCC stressed.
According to experts, the new satellites should replace the devices of the Resurs-P series. The Resurs-PM devices will have to have a shooting resolution of 0.4 m, while the Resurs-P camera shoots with a resolution of 1 m. It is planned that the device should be launched in 2023-2024.
The data of the new satellites will be used to search for oil, gas and other mineral deposits, monitor the development of territories, monitor water protection zones and reserves.
On December 10, Roscosmos reported that the launch of the Proton-M carrier rocket with the Express-AMU3 and Express-AMU7 satellites, postponed due to malfunctions, is scheduled for December 13. The rocket will be taken to the launch pad on December 11.
